Description

IDG Goal: Goal 6 – Access to Interfaith Education and Religious Literacy

Young people in Kenya largely lack structured opportunities to learn about faiths other than their own, with generational gaps, cultural barriers, and economic and digital divides all limiting meaningful youth interfaith engagement. To bridge this gap, a virtual engagement was held that brought together a diverse panel of elders, faith leaders, and youth leaders, drawing 216 registrations with an average of 35 participants attending each session. The audience was broadly representative, with 46% male and 39% female participants spanning faith backgrounds including Christian (51%), Muslim (19%), Bahá’í (3%), and Hindu (1%). The event succeeded in increasing understanding of interfaith engagement among young people, dismantling common misconceptions, and empowering youth to take an active role in designing future interfaith programmes, with participants leaving committed to mainstreaming what they had learned into their own work and communities.
