Soul Sisters is an inter-religious and inter-cultural girls’ project at Fryshuset, working against spatial and societal segregation in Stockholm. We created a natural meeting place for girls from different cultures, religions, norms, etc. Embedded in the inter-religious, inter-cultural and inter-sectional paradigms, our work aims to be normative-critical and empowering. During 10 meetings we had different modules (identity, social responsibility, self-esteem) with sub-themes and diverse activities.
Among other things, we did an international cuisine night, helped at Islamic Relief’s language cafe for asylum seekers, did feminist self-defence and watched a theatre play on rasism. All activities were embedded in discussions and exercises around inter-religious dialogue and empowerment.
